Chimney of Birds, Maze of Corn, Patch of Pumpkins

Thousands of Vaux’s Swifts fill the sky around Chapman Elementary every evening during the month of September.

Then, as soon as the sun sets they start spiraling into the tall school chimney.

It is crazy! Lots of people go to watch and you are lucky if you don't get pooped with thousands of birds flying around the sky.


The corn at Sauvie Island was tall. The mud was deep.


And the pumpkins were huge.
